Randy McCoy

Retrofit Design's owner understands the importance of form and function. A graduate of the University of Alberta's Industrial Design program, Randy McCoy was a founding member of Pure Design, an innovative Edmonton-based industrial design company that redefined the furniture and home accessory market throughout North America.

At its height, Pure Design employed 35 people and produced a number of different products, many of which were featured in films, television and music videos. In May of 2001, Pure Design was awarded the prestigious Editors Award for Furniture at the International Contemporary Furniture Fair in New York City.

After leaving Pure Design in 2004, Randy was approached by several friends who needed help with renovation projects and recognized that Randy's design background and experience with running a fabrication facility made him uniquely qualified for the job. Randy soon found himself receiving so many requests to take on renovation projects that he realized it was now his fulltime job and Retrofit Design was born.

Today Retrofit Design employs a team of ten, and specializes in interior design and renovation projects that benefit from a designer's sensibility and a perfectionist's attention to detail.
